Die europäische Verordnung über Entwaldung: Welche Sorgfaltspflichten treffen Unternehmen?
This contribution provides readers with an overview of the main provisions of the European regulation on deforestation, which introduces major innovations in combating deforestation, with a particular focus on the obligation of due diligence.
In addition to imposing a “zero deforestation” obligation on trade in certain products said to be ‘derived from deforestation’, the regulation strengthens the obligations of commercial players. Particular attention is paid to the exercise of due diligence by operators and traders who wish to place (or make available) certain products on the EU market or export them. The concept of due diligence, and the obligations that flow from it, is increasingly used in supply chain regulations, and its content varies according to the sectors to which it applies.
